We couldn't help but notice a consistent theme lately to Nebraska's offseason storyline recently. Many Taylor Martinez stories are being written and by our way of thinking way too many to have all been done by humans.
"Ha, so you noticed!"
So said good friend Martin Lennon, the Director of Infinite Monkey Excrement at the Infinite Monkey Foundation.
"They sense a theme and they run with it. I know it looks like they get stuck in a rut, but they're just running through different permutations of the same thing."

It's Valentine's Day, and we here at CN would like to wish you a happy V-Day.
Today, a simple poll for you regarding relationships.
There is growing support for increasing the number of wins that would be required for a FBS college football team to make a bowl game. If a proposal is made and accepted, it would lead to the elimination of some of the college bowls simply because there wouldn't be enough eligible teams to fill them.
What Do You Think About A Proposal That FBS Football Teams Would Need To Have Seven Wins To Quality for a Bowl Game?
Here we are, down to our last Cob of The Week before bowl season. Unfortunately, I think this one is a layup. Okay, maybe not. I could miss a layup.
It's a twinkie. Okay, that's not right either, because you eat a twinkie, it's easy, it tastes good for a minute and it's gone. This one neither tastes good, nor will it ever leave.
Ah, I know what this is. It's like mashing your thumb with a hammer. It hurts like hell for a while, then it goes away. Unfortunately, you're probably going to keep smashing your thumb every once in a while when you pick up a hammer. So... it really doesn't ever go away, does it? Year after year, the same action, the same pain, and then you come back and do it again.
You're really stupid, aren't you?
Ohio State will be naming Urban Meyer as their new head coach this afternoon.
It was first reported than Bo Pelini interviewed for the job, something that Pelini has denied.
What do you think?

It's a short one this week. I'm guessing most of you are taking it easy due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Unfortunately, not I. I. I am always behind, so this is, like most everything else I do, a little (hahaha kindness to myself) late.
From Husker Mike:
Nebraska Not-Even-Remotely-Close-To-Special Teams. Two fumbled kickoffs, a blocked kick, giving up a fake field goal, and getting flagged for roughing the kicker to extend a drive. That turned a bad performance into a blowout.
SEC Cupcakes: On Sunday, the sportswriters rewarded the ESSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEECCCCCCC for surviving their weekend diet of cupcakes. And I mean surviving. Furman leading Florida much of the day. The Citadel neck-and-neck with South Carolina. A one dimensional Georgia Southern team racking up over 300 yards on the ground on Alabama. We saw what you did there.
Whack-job-Husker fans: Hey, nobody's happy that Nebraska failed to get to the Big Ten Championship game. We're frustrated by what happened against Michigan... not to mention that Nebraska hasn't been to a BCS Bowl game in ten years. Disappointment is in order. Second guessing and questioning is in order. But calling for a coaching change? Are you freaking nuts? (Answer: Yes)
You know what I did Saturday right after the game? I sat in my chair for a while, depressed, and ate damned near a whole tub of pico de gallo. And it wasn't your little jar, either, it was one we bought at Costco because we like our spicy in bulk.
So why eat so much at one time? Because it went with the gin & tonics, that's why. It wasn't as dumb as eating an entire box of triscuits with damned near a whole jar of sliced jalapeños, but it's pretty darned close.
Even today, everything tastes like heartburn. I'm not sure if that's because of the Northwestern game or not. Okay, who am I kidding - I'm just trying to blame something else and not own up to my own stupidity.
Jon: Arizona State got upset by UCLA putting the Bruins in the driver's seat in the Pac 12 South. On a normal week, I'd have more fun with Dennis Erickson getting beat by Rick Neuheisel, and you would too - but I doubt right now that most of CN's constituents care all that much about UCLA.
No, my nomination goes to Nebraska. (Surprise!). Maybe I should narrow that down a bit, eh? How 'bout Tim Beck?
