Uplifting Athletes has four nominees, including one Rex Burkhead, up for the Rare Disease Champion Award which is decided by a public vote.

Rex is nominated for the award based on his community outreach, including his relationship with 6 year old Jack Hoffman who had a rare brain tumor and after an unsuccessful brain surgery said his only dream was to meet his hero, Rex.
