Ohio State will be naming Urban Meyer as their new head coach this afternoon.
It was first reported than Bo Pelini interviewed for the job, something that Pelini has denied.
What do you think?
If Bo Pelini would have taken that job, Nebraska could have hired Turner Gill!Taylor Johannsen - Currently Member of Thieves Guild |

At least there won't be another ten-year war, 'cause that sonofabitch Meyer can't stay in one place more than five. Rocky Roberts - Retired Horticulturist
|
If he didn't interview with them and they wanted him to, he's an idiot! It doesn't matter either way, though, he's getting a raise! Mike Smith - Xbox Programmer
|
Wait until Meyer tries to run those flashy fast offenses at Ohio State. They'll run him out of town in three years. Barry Felker - Former Olympic Gold Medal Winner
|
Didn't everyone want Bo Pelini fired last week? That was two weeks ago? Oh, okay. I forgot what week we're on.
Mary Beth Jenkins - Tax Accountant
|
LET'S FIRE HIM AND BRING IN TURNER AND COSGROVE.
Salt Creek and Stadium - November 28, 2011
You are part of the Rebel Alliance, and a traitor!
Give us the location of Jar Jar Cosgrove, so he can never again pretend to coach a defense.
Wolvie - November 28, 2011
COLUMBUS, HE'S IN COLUMBUS!
Feel free to death laser there. Go ahead, I’ll act sad.
Salt Creek and Stadium - November 28, 2011
Oh come now
You don’t really expect me to believe that. What FBS school would ever stoop so low as to hire him after the 2007 abomination at Nebraska.
::breaks the 4th wall by slowly turning his gaze towards Minnesota::
Wolvie - November 29, 2011
Can we blast Columbus anyway?
Salt Creek and Stadium - November 29, 2011
We'll position the Death Star appropriately
And wait for the NCAA to hand down it’s judgement. I’m sure we’ll get to blast Columbus, but y’never know. The NCAA might surprise us and do it for us.
Wolvie - November 29, 2011
Not With Urban 'The Man' Meyer There They Won't
NCAA still dithering around, and now that tOSU went out and got THE MAN, NCAA will be even more hesitant to inflict more damage to a marquee program that now has a huge name tied to it.
UltimaRatioRegum - November 29, 2011
That's why it would be a surprise
The “laser” is warming up. It’s more refined than the one you see in the movie. It’ll wipe out most of Ohio, while leaving I-80 intact so we can get to Happy Valley and points east. That’s the only part of Ohio we need anyway.
;-)
Wolvie - November 29, 2011
Urban
the next Jerry Kill? weeeee please bring the streatcher Uban is layn out at the 50… ding ding
BigRedNEK - November 28, 2011
Well, that's a bit much.
Salt Creek and Stadium - November 28, 2011
Good taste on line 2
He would like to have a word about that last post
SccrHskr - November 28, 2011
On the announcement Bo will not be the new tOSU HC...
…the press promptly removed face (spit) shields from their Christmas lists.
I don’t think it would have been a good move for Bo:
1. He is a good fit for Nebraska
2. The press and fans in C’bus aren’t as kind on the HC as they are in Nebraska
3. The tOSU major boosters expect a lot of face time with the HC, not a great idea with Bo
Keep faith Corn Nation…
1. If I recall (too lazy to look it up), PSU won the conference title their 2nd year after high expectations their 1st year
2. Sparty will fade with a resurging tSUN (I am not your best source for this one – I predicted them to fade this year)
3. You wiped the field with your division rival
4. You defeated what I predict will be your major conference rival (PSU)
5. Your players learned not to look past the little dogs (NW)
6. In a year where everyone was new to the coaching staff, you had a good inaugural Big Ten outing.
ProveIt - November 28, 2011
A few more
7. All the WR’s are freshman/Soph
8. First year play caller will have a much better grasp next year.
9. All RB’s and QB will return.
Robsa - November 28, 2011
To pile on.
10. O-Line was full of injured frosh:soph.
11. Defense lost a lot of talent to injuries and the NFL.
12. …
Wait, what team are we talking about? I believe any 8 or 9 of our 11 apply to a lot of the teams we compete against.
Fake Pelini - November 28, 2011 via mobile
On the downside
1. The 3 best players graduate and they all played defense.
Robsa - November 28, 2011
What?
No love for Rex?
redvalley - November 28, 2011
I keep telling myself.
The offense isn’t a powerhouse yet, but if this was our offense in 2009, how would that season have turned out?
Aaron Musfeldt - November 28, 2011
Big 12 Champs without a doubt.
Robsa - November 28, 2011
probably in the NCG
though now our offense is getting gradually better and our defense gradually worse
Nathaniel Perlow - November 28, 2011
The whole Bo to tOSU story doesn't pass the smell test...
It’s been known for weeks that Urban Meyer was Ohio State’s number one choice, and he did nothing to deny it. Why would Bo even go there?
Husker Mike - November 28, 2011
Yep
Coaching searches don’t follow the traditional advertise—→interview——>hire progression.
Plus both Pelini and Osborne denied it. I don’t think either would out and out lie, much less both of them.
jdhusker - November 28, 2011
Is it just me, or does this guy,,,,,
look an awful lot like this guy…
Just wondering!!
sd.husker - November 28, 2011
It's just you.
theise - November 28, 2011
Thats what I get for looking through Beer Goggles,,,right!!
sd.husker - November 28, 2011
Poor guy
I don’t know who he is, but the poor sumbitch kinda looks like me.
omahadave - November 29, 2011
it is just you
i can’t grow a beard to save my life.
Jon Johnston - November 29, 2011
Yea, i know your pain!!
sd.husker - November 29, 2011
hehe.
Salt Creek and Stadium - November 29, 2011
A bit off topic, but it involves tOSU
How awesome is this shot?! The kid is mortified he dropped the ball!
brutus1382 - November 28, 2011
Now that's FUNNY!!!
sd.husker - November 28, 2011
Actually, he just realized he forgot to click send on his philosophy mid-term.
Salt Creek and Stadium - November 28, 2011
That is awesome.
BIGRED J - November 29, 2011
it is
most punters would just look confused.
Jon Johnston - November 29, 2011
I'm not surprised by this
Let’s play what if…..Meyer does not leave Florida, we would most likely be saying bye to Bo.
For the doubters, Bo has a lot of history with Ohio and I do not think he would turn down his dream job, especially with some of the Big Red fans calling for his head.
BledRed - November 29, 2011 via mobile
Ridiculous
The concept of Ohio State wanting Bo is laughable. He has won NOTHING in his HC career. NOTHING. He can’t win the weaker division in a weak conference. Ohio State wouldn’t give him the time of day. It’s a joke for N fans to pretend Bo might go to Ohio State.
omahadave - November 29, 2011
NOTHING.
Cheeseandcorn - November 29, 2011
HE'S WORSE THAT CALLAHAN.
LET’S BRING THAT GUY BACK.
Salt Creek and Stadium - November 29, 2011
PS - Gene Chiznik and Lane Kiffin say hi and ask what the hubbub is about.
Salt Creek and Stadium - November 29, 2011
lmao!
brutus1382 - November 29, 2011
rec'd for its simplicity
Jon Johnston - November 29, 2011
The guy retracted the report
kinda scary that journalists will just lie like that.
http://sports.omaha.com/2011/11/28/pelini-absolutely-no-truth-to-ohio-state-interview-report/
meatybob - November 29, 2011
I don't think he lied
He got bad info. You’re only as good as your sources, and his, apparently, aren’t worth two craps.
Cheeseandcorn - November 29, 2011
The only thing we know is that Ohio State obviously decided "ANYONE BUT FICKELL".
